Hello Ladies and Gents,
Work during January was very encouraging and
even taking into account the snow
conditions, I think we can all look to the
immediate future with optimism. There were
some Marshalled Events during January and
February and a number are already in the
diary for March and April.
West Coast
Trains
The West Coast Train
account at weekends is running very smoothly
and work will increase as the year
progresses. At present we are using around
60 members each weekend, but with so many of
you booking in when the WCWC rank opens, you
may not all be successful on your first
attempt. Please be patient and rest assured
that as the weeks go by, every one of you
will certainly get your chance. There will
be a complete 4-day blockade over Easter and
many more drivers who have still to be
offered work this year on this account, will
be allocated a shift. Please do not book in
for this work if you have already been
offered a shift at one of the designated
stations since 3 January this year. Every
member must firstly get his or her
opportunity before we are able to offer you
all a second chance. But with the continuous
weekends and further blockades planned
throughout 2004, this will almost certainly
be the case.
Terminal Upgrade |

At the time of writing (March
16),
we are approaching the final switch over date
and it will benefit
both members and clients. The channel sequence
will work to equally proportion the number of
mobiles that pick up their signals from the
base stations located across London and will
stop one channel from having large
numbers of vehicles locked on to it in any one
time while another channel has a very small
number, as is currently the case. Having any
one channel under a heavy load at one time
certainly has a detrimental effect on the
signals in your taxi, a problem that we hope
the upgrade will fix. In addition, new
software is currently being tested which will
improve the
performance of the modem, which again is an
important part of the application process.
Rest assured that everything is being done to
overcome the problems that some of you are
experiencing in your taxis. It’s frustrating
at times, but we all hope that the upgrade,
which has been time consuming for everyone,
will be worthwhile and successful and again
confirm to members and clients alike that we
not only have the most |
advanced system, but also hold the upper
hand against our competitors.
Credit / ChargeCards
Although Credit Card
trips are now authorised at source, it is in
your own interest to keep the signed copy
receipts for a six-month period to safeguard
payment. The handling charge will
automatically be added to the meter fare when
the amount is cleared at the end of the
journey. If you are outside of the
signal range and unable to clear a trip,
please remember to obtain a signed manual
receipt. These types of trips do not count as
a reject and will be treated the same as a
cash journey.
At Goldman Sachs, Marshals are on site to help and assist you as
well as making sure that the rank is operating
fairly for all members. Please do not feel
embarrassed to ask for their help. I have
mentioned before that this is a joint account
and the more Dial-a-Cab taxis that are on the
(EC10) rank, the more work we will be offered.
Why not give it a try…?
Finally, can I remind you that if you have any problems using or
operating the terminal in your taxi, please
contact me on 0207 251 0581 ext 225 or email
Allane@Dialacab.co.uk and I will be only too
pleased to be of assistance.
