Call
Sign was sad to hear of the death of former
Dial-a-Cab driver Martin Barry (B74J) who
died in June at the age of 79. He had been on DaC
for 17 years before leaving in March of this year,
although he continued driving his taxi on a
part-time basis without a radio. Talking to Call Sign Editor Alan Fisher just several weeks before his sudden death, Martin said that he had no intention of retiring. His wife had passed away several years before and his family were spread around, so he now lived on his own. "Going to work each day is therapeutic," he told him, "what would I do with myself if I retired and stayed at home?" During the 1980’s, Martin was very vociferous at LTDA branch meetings along with northeast branch members of the time such as Mike Galvin, |
