Fathers Day has come and gone.
The presented socks to good ol’ dad together with his Smith’s after-shave
have long faded into ignominy, but one DaC driver will still have his gift
this year and – come to that – next year, the year after and ad infinitum! Joe Brazil (K16) – also known by many as the DaC Call Centre Senior Systems Supervisor on the evening shift – was given something rather different by his two children, Ryan (aged 4) and Shannon (2). Possibly helped by mum Shelley, Joe’s children bought him the title of the Honourable Lord Joseph Gerard Brazil of Loch Borralan! Yes, as of June 14 this year, DaC’s Joe Brazil became Lord Joe thanks to Ryan and Shannon! The estate of Loch Borralan is situated on Scotland’s northwest coast, just north of Ullapool in Inverness and has been associated with a number of various Scottish clans over the centuries with several clan wars taking place and ownership of the estate changing hands frequently. Even more intriguing is the nearby ancient graveyard where still exists to this day a small cell where Bonnie Prince Charlie hid from the English troops. If Joe – sorry, Lord Joseph - has an interest in geology and rock formations, then there are numerous examples of rocks around the estate that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Indeed the largest body of igneous rock in the northwest Scotland is found around Loch Borralan, some formed 3000 million years ago down in the earth’s |

pressures and temperatures. The area is fairly remote and very popular with hill walkers who love its hills, vales and lochs. The title will be handed down from generation to generation of Joe’s family, although his title only covers one square foot of the estate! "It doesn’t sound a lot," Joe told Call Sign, "but however small it is, I am the Laird of all I survey within it! I just think it’s the greatest present I’ve ever had! And please," Joe said with the utmost sincerity, "…get up off your knees…!" Congratulations your lordsh…. Sorry, we mean Joe! |
