LAMBETH BUILDING
SOCIETY
SPECIAL
MORTGAGE DEAL FOR DAC DRIVERS!
The Lambeth Building
Society has been advertising in Call
Sign for several years and many
Dial-a-Cab drivers have taken advantage
of their great mortgage and re-mortgage
offers.
Now, for a short period and as a special thank you, the Lambeth are
offering DaC drivers (and staff) an
EXTRA special deal over and above
anything else currently on offer.
Branch Manager Linda Hodson has told Call Sign that if you contact
them (see ad for the number), then not
only can you take advantage of the many
special Lambeth mortgage deals on offer,
but as a member of DaC, you will get an
EXTRA .25% discount for the first
year. And when you see the great rates
on offer at the Lambeth, you’ll be
forgiven for thinking that Christmas has
come early when they then offer you that
EXTRA quarter percent discount
for the first year.
Give them a call if you are looking for a mortgage or re-mortgage.
You’ve got nothing to lose but you
certainly could have much to gain…

DRIVER OPERATIONS UPDATE |
West Coast
Blockade
Hello Ladies and
Gents, we are almost into the Easter Holiday
and by now the final details would have been
put into place for the West Coast Train
blockade, which will start at 6am on Good
Friday and run up to midnight Easter Monday
with some extra taxis on standby for the
Tuesday morning. A timetable of shift dates
and times will be available for collection
in Drivers’ reception prior to the weekend
in question, which will help all members
arrange their work pattern over this
important holiday period. This will be the
first of four large shutdowns in 2004 that
will be require your assistance in larger
numbers than at present, using some 50 taxis
on each split shift. As of 1 April, the
fixed prices will also be raised in line
with the increase in meter tariffs. The
operation, although now well oiled, will
again be a challenge to us all and we must
work together to ensure its continued
success.
Please notify the Call Centre or contact the Marshal if you have
any queries during a particular shift that
may be cause for concern.
Terminal
and Modem Upgrade
The terminal upgrade has now been
fully implemented and although the past six
months have been spent testing and when
necessary re-testing the software, you
should all finally see |
improvements
not only in the ease of operation, but an
improvement in radio signals. This has
been a major priority for the Board of
Management and a problem that we are
determined to overcome. To help free
the radio airwaves and for a trial period,
the queue position function will also be
increased from thirty seconds to one minute
to coincide with the upgrade. It will not
restrict you in any adverse way, but will
again help to improve signal transmissions
to and from the drivers’ terminals to the
host computer.
A number of members are currently testing an additional modem
update that is looking very promising, and
should also offer you a better response to
the signals sent to your terminals. This
software change should reduce the number of
non-acknowledgments and resend messages and
as soon as the testing is satisfactorily
completed, we will offer it to all members.
Please be assured that the Board are
determined to overcome the problems that
some of you are encountering. Dial-a-Cab are
not the only company that have these types
of difficulties, we live in an age of mobile
phones and high technology and the radio
airwaves are extremely busy and congested.
