Donna Merry Wins
British Championship!
Dial-a-Cab Call Taker and blonde shooting
sensation Donna Merry went to the Bisley shooting ground as an
outsider to take the silverware that would signify that she
had been crowned British Ladies Skeet Shooting Champion. But
although her main rivals on the day, Diane Dowara, Jennie
DelRosso and Lesley Adams all shot well, Donna's 99 out of 100
was the day's top score and gave her the title for the second
time following her first title victory in1998. National CPSA
Director Terry Blaney presented Donna with the cup.
"I was really pleased with my 99,"
a delighted Donna told Call Sign, "because the targets
were all over the place and you had to really work hard to get
a good score. And of course becoming British Ladies Champion
again is a real buzz. I just hope that I can carry it through
to the DaC European. That's the one I really want..."
Johnny Walker won the men's Championship when
he shocked red-hot favourite George Digweed - the man who has
already won 12 World titles and 15 European Championships!
Johnny told Call Sign: "I'm really
chuffed to have beaten George Digweed so well and I just hope
that I can do it again at the Dial-a-Cab European
Championships. Unlike the other tournaments, the DaC is the
only one with a shoot-off between the top man and lady for the
ultimate UK prize. And I'll tell you this for nothing, Donna
may be a lovely girl, but she is going to have to be red-hot
to get through me to take the DaC, because I want that one as
well...!" |
