DAC AND THE CHILDREN'S TRIP |
|
As usual, several Dial-a-Cab
drivers gave up their weekend to enable 180 sick children to make the
Magicical Taxi trip to Disneyland Paris organised by The Company of Hackney
Carriage Drivers. This year was extra special being the 10th
anniversary of the first Paris trip… "And," said DaC driver Jim Rainbird (T25), "it was undoubtedly the best one ever!"After breakfast at Cabot Hall just off the Square, attended by The Lord
Mayor of the City of London, his Sheriff and Tommy Walsh from Groundforce,
the convoy of over 100 cabs left for France to give these excited but sick
children, the trip of their young lifetime. The yearly charity event gives
those children a break from therapy and treatment. |
In these 10 years, 800 taxis have taken 1900 children to Disneyland, Paris. During the 10-hour trip to Paris, the convoy sometimes reaches over three miles in length and is fully organised by unpaid volunteers. Among those unpaid DaC drivers on the trip were Jim Rainbird (T25), Steve Tyson (V99), Russell Hall (G44), Dennis Heavin (A01) and Tony Boon (P29). Well done once again to the Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers… |

Handing his Bill to Ed Thompson, Sam told Call Sign that although he felt sad, there was a certain amount of gladness too. "The sadness is because I will miss all those nice guys and girls I’ve met over the years on our circuit," said Sam, "while the |
