Virgin West Coast
Trains
Due to there being no June Call
Sign, I'd like to bring you all up to speed
with what we in Drivers Operations have
planned and are currently working on.
Several meetings with Senior Staff from
Virgin (WCT) have already taken place to not
only discuss the recent Easter Blockade, but
also to move forward on the nine continuous
days during August and the weekend work
which will take us into the middle of
January 2004. Virgin and Silver-Link were
once again extremely happy with the
commitment and professionalism of everyone
at DaC and it was pleasing to hear that they
have extended our present contract (00750)
into next year - great news for the Society
and its Members.
Keith Cain and I are already starting to put
things into place and hope to give all
members who wish to carry out this work
every opportunity to do so. It will be
spread further afield and we both feel that
it will be busier than Easter, so many more
Members will get their chance to cover this
work.
You will all be notified
individually as to the method of trip
allocation, but again I must stress that it
will be as fair as possible. A more detailed
account appears in Keith Cain's report.
Spearmint Rhino Club
Dial-a-Cab in conjunction with
the club management and on behalf of all
Licensed Taxi drivers,
|

now provide a Marshalled service each Tuesday
through to Saturday between the hours of 10pm
and 3am at the
Spearmint Rhino club, 161 Tottenham Court
Road. We are on site firstly to provide our
Members with extra work and to successfully
combat the unlicensed operators.
Our aim is to provide a fully
operational Licensed Taxi service to clients
and staff. We are also asking for all Licensed
Taxi drivers to support DaC in our efforts to
provide large volumes of work each night in a
fair and equal manner. Our previous success at
Battersea Park was due to your support and the
support of the trade and without this we will
fail. Please keep up the good work and
spread the word.
Roman Way
Lots of meetings and conference
calls have taken place over the past few weeks
with all relevant parties working together in
an effort to overcome the radio signal
problems that some of you are still
experiencing and to re-set channel sequences.
I hope this will go a long way towards
improving your day-to-day working. Please be
patient, because it is a series of
modifications, upgrades, testing and
re-testing before all bugs are roned out. When
we are
|
completely satisfied that changes
are working trouble-free, then we will
notify you and upgrade the system. This will
provide a big improvement.
Marshalling Notes...
The Marshal at Morgan Stanley is
now on site one hour less a day. The new
hours are 7pm to midnight Monday to Friday and
because there is just the single Marshal every
night, I would ask you all to notify him in
the normal way on arrival and to give him the
correct details. This will help make his job a
little easier.
After a slow start to the
summer, quite a number of events needing our
Marshals have now taken place or are due to go
ahead over the coming period. Our
service is now held in high esteem and many of
these events are born out of recommendation
from many of our regular clients. Your
support now is tremendous. Thank you from all
the team!
On a final note, can I remind
you that if you are about to purchase a taxi
which still has a while to run on the existing
plate, the rules of the Society state that the
taxi must be passed and plated in the owner's
name before you are able to use ODRTS
equipment. Can I also confirm that on a change
of taxi requiring a terminal re-fit, the
standard charge of £129.25 will apply. If you
have any queries or require assistance please
ring me on 0207 251 0581 ext 225 or email
