BRIAN RICE ON RADIO AGAIN Slowly but
surely, the radio-listening public in the south of England must be getting
used to the dulcet tones of Dial-a-Cab Chairman Brian Rice, because when it
comes to speaking on subjects involving the taxi trade or just driving, he's
the man that the radio companies come to see - even though he keeps plugging
a radio taxi organisation called Dial-a-Cab...! |
SID NATHAN UNVEILS PLAQUE TO DAC CHAIRMEN
|
|
In the October Call Sign, DaC driver Sid Nathan (K88) in a
tribute to the founder of ODRTS, Bonnie Martyn, wrote in his own inimitable
style the following published letter: "As Bonnie Martyn was the founder of not only Dial-a-Cab (or Lords as it was called), but also the first Chairman of any radio circuit, may I suggest that you create a frame of all the past and present Chairmen of Dial-a-Cab in which we can have a display of their photographs starting from the great Bonnie Martyn in 1953 |
up to the great Brian Rice in 2002 and hang it in one of the reception areas? If the frame becomes full up, then you or whoever takes over from you, should get an even bigger frame! In 100 years time, our descendents will be able to look at the frame and say that was my grandfather or great grandfather!" Unfortunately not all the photos were available in a suitable form and the idea wasn't really practical, but Call Sign put together a list of chairmen from day one together with the years they served and have framed and hung it in the Driver's Reception. We asked Sid to unveil it and he proudly did so... |
