The Business Travel Show, Olympia
I am pleased to let you know that Dial-a-Cab will again be
exhibiting at the Business Travel Show 2003 to be held at Olympia from the 4 -
6 February 2003.
Due to last year's successful event and the excellent service our
Marshal's and drivers provided, we have again been invited to be the 'Preferred
Taxi Supplier'. The taxi-booking desk will be situated in the main reception
area at the Hammersmith Road entrance where two Call Centre personnel will be
available to take bookings and account inquiries. Passengers will be able to
book cabs using Credit Cards, Dial-a-Cab Charge Cards and of course, our
account facilities.
DaC will also have a prominent exhibition stand where Sales
Manager Lydia Foulkes and her team, in addition to various Board members, will
be speaking to the many expected visitors about the different aspects of the
Dial-a-Cab organisation. We shall also be demonstrating our new web-based
on-line booking system in addition to some of the other amazing technological
advances that Dial-a-Cab have developed.
As you are all more than well aware, work is a bit sparse at the
moment, however this event

airport or some other such
lucrative ride. If any Dial-a-Cab driver decides to play the "high
game," be assured that a complaint will be issued. If the drivers happen
to be non-radio, then their number will be taken and may be passed on to the
authorities. DaC has always been proud of the fact that above all else, it
tries it's hardest to be fair to all drivers. If anyone is caught
stealing from their fellow drivers - because that's what 'hanging up' involves
- they will not be allowed to get away with it.
Having said that, we also realise that 99% of our drivers are
honest, extremely trustworthy and would not take advantage...
It is extremely important that we give the best possible service,
because any one of your passengers could be influential in opening an account
with Dial-a-Cab. Please give us your full support.

Appold Street Cab Rank (EC11)
I'm pleased to inform you that the Appold Street cab rank (EC11)
has now been re-instated. This rank was supposed to have been suspended
until 2004, but following consultations with the City of London Police, they
have agreed to lift the suspension early. However, their main worry was
regarding taxis blocking the entrance to the construction site situated next
to number 1 Appold Street. The new agreement is that the rank will be
reduced from four cabs to three until the construction work is completed in
2004.
If there are any taxi related problems, such as cabs blocking
the construction site or cabs ranking unofficially, the police will again
suspend the rank. Please be considerate by not putting on 'foul'. If it is
withdrawn again, the police will not reconsider their decision until 2004...
DaC at Fifty...
2003 is Dial-a-Cab's 50th year, something we should all be proud
of. With this in mind, we have produced a complimentary logo to indicate
that fact. Please pop in to Brunswick House or Roman Way and collect a pair
of our gold coloured logos and place them on the rear wings. Standing out
from the crowd can only be a benefit...

should generate some much needed trips and revenue while hopefully
generating more future clients.
Playing the "High Game"
I must point out that last year there were a small number of taxi
drivers who felt that they were more important than their fellow DaC
subscribers and decided to take an unfair advantage by 'hanging up' and hoping

KPM GET DIAL-A-CAB TERMINALS
LTI main dealer KPM now have two taxis fitted with the new
Dial-a-Cab terminals that they are happy to loan to Dial-a-Cab
drivers who take their taxis to the East London dealership for
bodywork repairs.
That means that DaC subscribers can now order a
replacement cab with a terminal and continue working with a radio
under their own badge number should they be unlucky enough to be
involved in an RTA.
It can be difficult for those used to working on radio
to get used to a period without, while their taxi is off the road,
so KPM's DaC taxis with terminals will be very welcome by their DaC
customers. But please make sure you order in advance, as demand may
be heavy.
