An amazingly sunny and mild February day set the scene for the Dial-a-Cab Senior Staff Awayday, 2003. A coach had left Brunswick House early on Saturday 22nd for those who didn't want to make their own way to the beautiful setting of the Westerham Golf Club.
The view through the coach window on arrival brought a gasp from the ladies and a "cor, that's not bad" from the men, as they viewed the early morning winter sun, set against a clear, deep blue sky and glistening against the last of the rapidly diminishing frost.
A few hardy club members were already playing the 10th hole as the coach pulled up as close to the clubhouse - DaC's home for the day - as it could, to join those Staff and Board members who were already there polishing off endless rounds of coffee and toast.
So what is an "Awayday" you might ask? In American parlance, it would have been known as an exercise in Corporate Bonding and is designed as an exercise to get those working for the same organisation to meet those they possibly never see and for all present to appreciate the

contribution other employees make, in order for DaC to fit into  one - again using the  American vernacular - lean, mean fighting machine! That is achieved through a mix of speeches, team games, lunch, dinner and the odd drinkie-poo!  On this occasion, it involved degrees of senior Staff from supervisors to managers and heads of department plus, of course, Board members.
The team games went down very well and even those who thought the idea was silly, seemed to really enjoy themselves. The underlying point to the games was to display

the fact that DaC is an ongoing production line and that every decision taken reverberates down that line. Make a wrong decision and the next person down the line will have to deal with it and so on.
Speaking to those who went afterwards, many told Call Sign that they hadn't been too keen on "wasting" a Saturday on the event, but by the day's end had really enjoyed it and felt that it had been a very worthwhile exercise.

Someone has to make the rules to the games!

M&O NOW HAVE FOUR CABS
WITH NEW TERMINALS

Mann & Overton now have four taxis fitted to their fleet of Dial-a-Cab courtesy cabs complete with new terminals.
DaC drivers attending the Holloway Road dealership for servicing or overhauls, have the chance of a free DaC-fitted TX1 while their own vehicle is being worked on.
Speaking to Call Sign, Mike Saunders, General Service Manager at M&O told us:
"With the co-operation of the DaC Board who have made available the radio equipment, we are delighted to provide this facility for our Dial-a-Cab customers. It allows drivers to continue servicing account clients while their own cab is here, so everybody wins!
I would remind everyone though, that these courtesy cabs are on a strictly 'first come, first served' basis, so please book early."

You can contact the M&O Service Dept. on 020 7700 0888...
