Melvyn Harvey (E87) is justifiably proud of son Richard. As Call Sign said
in the November issue, Richard shows little interest in driving a cab - he
is too busy winning trophies at virtually every tennis competition he enters
and is now recognised as the number one Junior tennis player in Essex
following several Junior Championship victories. |

Now the Essex County Performance Committee at a meeting in December has
selected Richard as the recipient of the prestigious Reg Fletcher trophy for
2001. This trophy is awarded to the junior player who the committee judge to
have the best achievements during the year. Richard had a very successful year winning seven singles tournaments. He is also the current Essex Closed under 18 champion and in addition won titles at Frinton, Connaught, Brentwood Hard, the Avenue and two events at Cranbrook Castle. Richard has also done well in the British Tour, reaching the quarter-finals at Paddington. This bodes well for his transition to the |
seniors over the next few years. He has worked very hard and all agree that
he is a very deserving recipient of Essex's most prestigious junior tennis
player award. Richard recently met up with Greg Rusedski, who was extremely impressed with his progress. "A future Davis Cup player in the making," Greg told Call Sign... Also speaking to Call Sign, Melvyn Harvey told us: "We are really so proud of Richard. He works so hard at his tennis and never complains if anything goes wrong - fortunately those occurrences are getting rarer!" |
KEITH'S £300 LOGO WINCongratulations to the March Dial-a-Cab Logo draw winner Keith Martin
(D45) whose call sign was first out of the hat. Keith, who has been on
Dial-a-Cab for 17 years - in fact all but two months of his time as a
green badge holder - has just booked a holiday to Florida and told Call
Sign that his wife Cheryl had already taken the 300 smackers and put it
away towards their spending money! |
