Dial-a-Cab driver Stan Carter (M95) has now been fitted with his Raywood
'Snapshot' in-cab security camera courtesy of Raywood (Europe) who read of
Stan's terrible ordeal in Call Sign, after the 70-year-old DaC driver had
been attacked and badly beaten by five young thugs. Raywood saw Call Sign's
graphic photo of Stan following the attack and very kindly offered him a
free camera.
Personal security, especially if you work nights, is foremost in everybody's mind. To address the problem positively, the PCO have approved several in-cab surveillance systems to deter potential miscreants and/or gather evidence of offenders should the need arise. Raywood are known throughout the world for their vehicular security systems and Stan was delighted when told they would be giving him a fitted system totally free of charge. The set-up comprises two cameras with infra-red capability that digitally record and securely store images of the rear carriage and driver's cabin at specific times during a hiring. There is also the driver's option to activate the cameras at will and |

store the images securely in the control box. These can only be
downloaded by authorised personnel such as the police or PCO. The cameras'
normally respond to the fare meter being operational or the doors being
opened. A maximum of 320 pictures are captured digitally before being replaced with updated scenes. Clear signage inside the cab advises passengers that a surveillance system is installed, which should in itself be a clear deterrent to would be undesirables. Also worth pointing out is that no image presented in a court of law |
emanating from a Raywood security camera has ever been turned down through poor quality. No matter how dark the cab is, the pictures are always clear. A delighted Stan told Call Sign: "I do feel much safer now and quite honoured to be one of the first to be fitted! I'd rather not have been attacked, but this is certainly a worthwhile consolation! I'd advise anyone who doesn't feel safe in their cab to consider having a Raywood 'Snapshot' fitted." Enquiries to LP Motors: 0207 739 7725 or mobile: 07956 817 334 |
