If, like many millions of viewers world-wide, you watch the international
news network CNN (Cable News Network), you may have seen a broadcast during
'Business International' on the morning of May 27 by the lady with the lovely
smile and husky voice, Becky Anderson. Her interesting and well-prepared
interview was with one of two brothers who founded a company called Obvious
Solutions, the same company who are behind the "text-for-a-cab"
system known as SMS.
Lionel Cohen of Obvious Solutions spoke for several minutes on
what he perceived as the advantages of
|

allowing prospective passengers to text for a cab.
Currently only Radio Taxis (London) of the licensed industry intend using the
system that was officially due to go live on July 1.
Also scheduled to use the SMS service are several Private Hire companies.
Will Dial-a-Cab join in the scheme? Call Sign doesn't know the
answer to that, but what we can tell you is that in one of
|
Becky's questions she asked Mr
Cohen if he was worried that ".... if the scheme took off, won't the
big boys then come in and run their own scheme?"
So who are these "big boys?"
Well Call Sign is far too modest to say, but Becky's completed sentence
said:
"...Won't the big boys - that's the Dial-a-Cab's and
Ambassadors of this world - then come in and run their own scheme?"
Congratulations to Becky Anderson, not just for her great smile
and husky voice, but also for obviously knowing her subject - in this case
the London cab trade...!
