LTI TAXIS STRIKE GOLD FOR QUEEN'S JUBILEE
Fifty gold taxis will be on London's streets to commemorate the Queen's
Golden Jubilee, Mayor of London Ken Livingstone informed Call Sign. The 50
taxis will be on the streets from April until November. There will also be
fifty gold sponsored buses to commemorate the occasion.
Ken Livingstone told this magazine:
"Black cabs and red buses are a classic symbol of
London's heritage as well as a great way to get around town. 2002 will see
an unprecedented level of focus on London from around the world and I'm
delighted that London taxis and buses will play a key role in the
celebrations."
London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau's Director of
Marketing Sandra Elliot added:
"The Golden Jubilee is a fantastic opportunity to tempt
back the overseas visitors that London lost in 2001. The gold taxis and
buses, already world-renowned London icons, will play an important part in
promoting London as the place to be in 2002."
The 50 gold taxis will come from London Taxis International who
are producing a strictly limited edition TXII purpose built taxi in metallic
gold with unique Golden Jubilee livery. The livery is in metallic gold with
a Golden Jubilee emblem on the side, as well as special badging and carpets.
They will be individually numbered with a different year from
The Queen's reign.
Ian Pickering, Chief Executive of LTI parent company Manganese Bronze
Holdings plc, told Call Sign:
"The Golden Jubilee is a cause for celebration across
the UK and we are delighted to be part of it with this commemorative taxi
which is officially endorsed by the Golden Jubilee office. We are sure the
Golden Jubilee TXIIs will be a legacy of this event for many years to come.
They will also allow drivers to play a part in the celebrations as the taxi
will become a mobile tourist attraction in its own right."
The Queen's Jubilee celebrations take place from 1st - 4th June
2002 and include an extra Bank Holiday on Monday 3rd June. More

PETER CURRIES FAVOUR
WITH LOGO WIN

Peter Ellis gets his cheque from Tom Whitbread
It didn't take curry lover Peter Ellis (L08) long to work out what he
would probably end up doing with his £300 logo win in the January draw -
take the family for a curry!
"And," Peter told Call Sign, "with my wife Pam, four
children and four grandchildren, if I'm lucky there might just be enough
over for a drink afterwards! But if somehow I manage to get away without
getting the food, I fancy a short break in Yorkshire."
Peter has been on DaC for 18 years having passed his 'green
badge' two years earlier.
"I actually tried ComCab for a year first, but I just couldn't take
to it. Now I'm pleased because I think Dial-a-Cab are great."
Surprisingly for someone who speaks so highly of DaC,
collecting his logo winnings was only the second time that he had been to
Brunswick House on official business.
"I'm just happy to do my work quietly with no fuss and then I go
home," said Peter.
Peter's call sign was first out of the hat when the January
draw was made. The only requisite needed to be in the draw is to have the
two Dial-a-Cab corporate logos fitted to your cab - one on each front door
and to make sure that the office knows.
