Ok, so everyone needs a holiday and the Dial-a-Cab football season within the 'City of London Lunchtime League' goes on for most of the year, but the holiday period this season seems to have taken out our best players all at the same time.

Just two weeks ago, we were sitting proudly at the top of the league alongside Dynamo CQG, when suddenly the holiday period came and on one occasion, even our veteran goalkeeper and team captain, Lee Morland had to leave his regular goalkeeping position to go into the midfield.
September 10th saw DaC playing the mid-table team of The Zeds - a team we would generally beat fairly easily. Half time gave Call Sign no reason to worry about us losing our prized number one slot when we ran in leading by 3 - 0.
Then the second half came and DaC seem to crumble. The Zeds scored four times and DaC

HOLIDAYS DESTROY THE
DAC FOOTBALL TEAM!

were lucky to get a late equaliser to end the game with a four-all draw.
Whether that match upset our confidence or we just missed our regular players, the next match against Willis on September 17th saw us put in our worst performance ever.
"We were truly awful," said Lee Morland afterwards, "perhaps we did miss some
players, but where was our pride? We just caved in." The result, which no one else in the team wants to talk about against Willis, saw Dial-a-Cab thrashed by 9 goals to 4. Even stand-in goalie Chad Gomez couldn't be blamed. The team offered him no protection. The hope has to be that our confidence will come back along with the missing players on holiday.
DIAL-A-CAB CREDIT UNION

COME AND JOIN US...
Since coming back on to the Dial-a-Cab Credit Union Board for the second time, although as Assistant Treasurer, my brief was to try and get more new members to join either by talking to drivers when picking up at account addresses, or through Call Sign Magazine.
When I do speak with drivers who are not with the Credit union, they usually say, "...Yes what a good idea, I must sign up," but then it's probably out of sight out of mind and invariably they forget. Personally, I think it is a brilliant way of saving or borrowing money.

For example, in last months Call Sign, Paragon were advertising a new navigation system. Now for some of you airport faces or if you're a lucky Finsbury user, this could be a useful gadget to own. The price of the system is around £1500, so as an illustration ...
If you were to borrow £1500 over a 12-month period, the weekly re-payment would be £30.65 with total interest being just £93.51. So if you fancy a navigation system, come and see your Credit Union before enquiring elsewhere.

Currently the maximum amount you can borrow is £6000 over a maximum of 2 years. If you are a new member, your first loan is up to twice your savings to a maximum of £2000 with loans thereafter being 3 times your savings to a maximum of £6000.
In future issues of Call Sign I shall continue to bang on about joining the DACCU, so the sooner you join the quicker I can stop!
Until the next time be lucky - but do be careful out there...
