Dial-a-Cab Call Taker and champion Skeet Shooter, Donna Merry, opened up her career as England Ladies Captain with a successful International victory at Telpin (Wales) over Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Jersey and the home country, Wales. Donna led England to winning the Senior, Ladies and Veteran Internationals, losing just the Junior.
Despite appalling weather conditions including high winds, Donna, teaming up with Michele Conway, won the Highest English Lady and Highest International Lady awards, plus the coveted International Cup for leading England to victory in these Skeet Shooting International Championships.
Speaking to Call Sign afterwards, Donna told us:
"I may not be quite as high profile as David Beckham, but I probably get the same buzz from captaining my country! It really is such a wonderful feeling. It was a pity that the weather was so bad causing scores to take a dive, but so

long as England's scores were higher than the oppositions, I'm not complaining...!"
Only one shooter managed to score a maximum 100, while Donna's two awards came with a high score of 96 - poor by her own very high standards but caused by the wind making the targets move around far more unpredictably that usual. Donna has scored more 'perfect' 100's than any other woman shooter.
In October, Donna and Dial-a-Cab dispatcher John Wells will both be going to the World Skeet Shooting Championships in Texas. Both will be sporting their Dial-a-Cab logo'd shirts and will be filing reports for Call Sign...

The tragic events of New York City on September 11th 2001 will never be forgotten by anyone who has access to any form of media and Call Sign will leave it to that same media to describe and dissect into what, why and how. But in addition to the families of all those on the scene at the time who died so needlessly, there are many people associated to the London taxi industry to whom this magazine would wish to send its deepest condolences.
Many of our large clients had offices in World Trade Centre buildings 1 and 2, while others had offices in the 'smaller' buildings - skyscrapers by UK standards. Many Dial-a-Cab drivers will undoubtedly have picked up clients in the past or perhaps even have family or friends who were caught up in those appalling scenes. To each and every one of them, we offer our deepest sympathy.
And then there are the New York City cab drivers, a group that

make up around 10% of the total  number of US taxi drivers. David Rozansky, Editor of The American Cabby, gave Call Sign his thoughts and most prominent among them were those wishing to send thanks to his fellow colleagues for helping to keep New York in motion.
"Their work during these difficult, dark days," said David, "may go without commendation while in many cases, violence and derision will be unfairly poured upon them because of their nationalities and faiths, but we'd all like them to know that their efforts are greatly appreciated and that the brotherhood of the world's Taxicab Drivers stand by their side..."
