With one of the largest entries ever seen for a Call Sign competition, the winning entry drawn on Friday October 19 belonged to that of Jon Trevor and his partner, Mary O'Brien. Our congratulations go to the lucky couple who will enjoy the best prize ever given by a radio taxi magazine. Jon and Mary will be enjoying the facilities of possibly London's top Hair and Beauty salon, Burlingtons of John Princes Street, just behind Oxford Street.
The Managing Director of Burlingtons is Clive Colman, who was a former Sales Manager at Vidal Sassoon's Grosvenor Square branch at the tender age of 19. Following a further 9 years working on the Continent, Clive arrived back with the aim of making Burlingtons the number one salon in London. We think he's now almost there...!
The expertise of Burlingtons is recognised world-wide and

they are constantly asked to appear in other countries including Japan, Italy, Croatia and China, in addition to appearing in many consumer magazines and television programmes within the UK. Famous faces are not hard to spot in the salon either, with many celebrities having their usual makeover! Many starlets also use Burlingtons to put together their photographic portfolio, as the skills of Burlingtons photographers are acknowledged as being second to none.
Jon and Mary will be having the complete works from top to toe. In addition they will be picked up and dropped back to their Leyton home by DaC taxi, but not until they have also had dinner on Call Sign!
A report on their time at Burlingtons will appear in a future Call Sign. So well done to them both.

If you have children that have recently left school and are considering a future in the hair and beauty industry, then Burlingtons are always looking for young apprentices to learn the skills required. If they are looking to earn top money, then this is not for you; this opportunity is to enable them to learn about the hair and beauty industry and to become an expert in providing the service to clients. Send your phone number to Call Sign if your children are interested and we'll pass it on to Burlingtons.

NEW LTI APPOINTMENTS

London Taxis International have announced two new appointments to their Holyhead Road base in Coventry. Dave Stanton is now the new Manufacturing Quality Manager while Amanda Richards has been introduced as the company's new Health, Safety and Environment Manager.
Dave joins LTI from BMW at Oxford where he was most recently Assembly Quality Manager. He started as an apprentice at the Rover/ BMW site and spent 21 years there in total.
Dave's focus is on the 'voice of the customer' and he will be responsible for the introduction of new systems to drive constant enhancements in the build quality of LTI vehicles as they move through the production process.
He has already initiated the 'Level Zero' process, which offers a systematic but simple means of checking parts, tooling and vehicle assembly against specification. In addition, the Manufacturing Build sections have been methodically calibrated against both 'Right First Time' and customer issues.
Hailing originally from Kingston-upon-Thames, Dave lived for 25 years in Oxford and is now based at Whitnash, near Leamington Spa. He is married and has two children.
Speaking to Call Sign, Dave told us: "I am greatly looking forward to the challenges of delivering enhanced quality for LTI's customer base, both in the UK and abroad."
Amanda Richards also joins LTI with impressive credentials. She comes from Rolls Royce Energy, where she was most recently a Principal Engineer in Quality Assurance with responsibility for health, safety and environmental systems.
Prior to that, Amanda had held posts as Applications Engineer and Test Facilities Engineer within Rolls Royce Industrial & Marine Gas Ltd.
At LTI she will have responsibility for maintaining and developing the company's health and safety and environmental systems to meet internal and legislative requirements.
Amanda, who lives nearby in Keresley, Coventry with her husband and three children, is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Wales.
Speaking to Call Sign, Peter Shillcock, Managing Director - Operations at LTI told us:
"Amanda brings with her a strong track record in the implementation of successful health and safety and environmental systems within industry and this will prove invaluable in her new role at LTI"
