Roy Masterson:
Microsoft Certified System Engineer Exam
Success
Dial-a-Cab IT Support Manager Roy Masterson was full of
smiles recently when passing the latest examination in his quest for
classification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). He now has
two electives left to achieve, having passed the first four core exams at
the first time of asking.
His current status is that of MCP (Microsoft Certified
Professional) and yes, Roy has heard all the jokes about MCP and male
chauvinist pig! But these exams and the qualifications they lead to show how
seriously Roy takes his position at DaC.
"It is all relevant to the work I do at Dial-a-Cab and
it makes the job easier" Roy told Call Sign. "Most of the
study is done at home and usually plays havoc with attempts at a normal
social life, but I'm delighted to have passed this latest exam."
Well done Roy...

Dial-a-Cab at the CBI
On Tuesday November 28th, Dial-a-Cab were invited to a Chairman and
Chief Executive's dinner at the CBI's headquarters inside London's Centre
Point. Representing the Society was DaC Chairman Brian Rice.
The list of guests was impressive, with many 'captains of
industry' present including Rudi Jagersbacher (Vice President of Hilton
International), Rory Forsythe (Head of Coach Services of the Confederation
of Passenger Transport UK), Howard Pridding (Executive Director of the
British Marine Industries Federation), David Quarmby (Chairman of the
British Tourist Authority), Sir Keith Stuart (Chairman of the Associated
British Ports Holdings), Mark Taylor (Commercial Director of the Barbican
Centre), Derrick Thompson (Chief Controller of Granada Television) and of
course representatives of the CBI including the Director General, Digby
Jones. There were many others present, too numerous to mention, but only one
member of the licensed taxi industry - Brian Rice.
Speeches were mainly centred on the Tourist and Leisure
Industry - something that licensed taxis play a big part in. However, when
the subject moved onto e-commerce, Brian Rice - never short of a few words
when it comes to pushing the claims of DaC - needed little pushing on this
occasion either to get up and give a brief résumé on the exclusive merits
of Dial-a-Cab's technology.
Guests were amazed to learn how clients with Dial-a-Cab now had
the option of using the Internet to order their own taxis completely
by-passing the Call Centre, and were totally astounded when the DaC Chairman
explained that this facility was 'real-time' and had no connection with
sending e-mails to a call centre and hoping that someone read them.
Judging by the questions Brian Rice faced afterwards in private
conversation, the guests were indeed, suitably impressed.
