Annual Subscription Review
The present subscription of £110 per month (including VAT) has not
been increased for the past four years, making Dial-a-Cab unique in the
London radio taxi industry. With this in mind, the BoM of Dial-a-Cab have
decided to review the way in which our subscriptions are levied to members
in the future.
As from 1st June 2000, the basic
subscription will be increased to £125 per month including VAT.
However, if your vehicle is fully logo’d, a reduced subscription
of £105 per month including VAT will be payable.
Obviously, you can appreciate that in real terms there will be a decrease
in subscriptions of £5 per month for most members and this reduced
subscription will be applied to all members who carry our current logo now
and in the future, making it another first for Dial-a-Cab. The onus will
be on individual members to ensure that the attributes that we have
registered for them are correct and any member who claims the reduced
subscription, but does not display the company logo, will have to answer a
complaint.
In future, all members that enjoy the reduced subscription of £1 per
month due to their long service with the Society, will be expected to
carry the company logo. However, if they choose not to display the logo,
then the full £125 subscription will be levied.
In recent times, the popularity of our magnetic logo has grown
enormously, therefore, any member who is claiming the reduced subscription
must have the logo affixed whilst on company business.

Recently some of our corporate clients have become more insistent on
being serviced by easily recognisable Dial-a-Cab vehicles.
I am convinced that requests such as this will become even more
prevalent in the future and the size of our fleet will be determined by
the amount of cabs that carry our logo in sufficient numbers to supply the
service that our clients demand.
The BoM are delighted to introduce this innovative scheme which
emphasises the way in which your business is being administered. Not only
is Dial-a-Cab re-equipping its entire fleet with new MDC’s, it is always
seeking new avenues to increase the benefits of Dial-a-Cab membership.
Complaints Committee
In recent times we have found it becoming increasingly difficult to
recruit members who wish to sit on a complaints committee. The Company
Secretary, Trevor Clarke, has been wasting a considerable amount of time
trying to enlist members’ services, but to no avail. There are a
multitude of reasons that are given as to why selected drivers cannot
participate, but that is their prerogative.
Consequently, the BoM
have decided to compile a list of
|
approximately fifty members that would be willing to participate. If you
are interested and you are not a
Society Arbitrator, would you please forward your name and call sign to
Shelagh Adkins at Driver Operations.
I believe that a further benefit of having the list would be more
continuity. The members involved would become experienced in dealing with
complaints, thereby giving the Society and the member that is appearing
before the committee, a fairer system.
Terminal Update
Our new terminal and fixing has been taken to the PCO for approval and has
been passed. At the time of writing, I have received a verbal approval
from the PCO, I have now made a formal request in writing and I await
their formal reply.
On Sunday 9th April, the PCO had an open day and
we arranged for one of the mobiles that was fitted with the new equipment,
to be in attendance. A laptop computer was connected to a telephone line
and, via the Internet, we were able to send messages and trips to the new
terminal.
I believe that anyone who saw the new equipment could not fail but to be
impressed. Indeed, the following evening there was a reception at the PCO
to celebrate 150 years of licensing with almost 300 people in attendance,
including myself, and many of those guests wanted to speak to me about the
new terminal. I believe that all members (well, most of you) will also be
impressed. The terminals that are on test are performing extremely well
and should things continue as they are, we will start fitting during
May.
