I recently considered investing
in stocks and shares and before parting with my hard-earned cash, I
thought a bit of research was required, which of course began on the Net.
Nowadays, if you go to any search engine and type in a
phrase, you are bombarded with irrelevant links. My search was typical of
this and usage of the advanced search engine sections is a must.
It was whilst I was searching http://www.altavista.com
that a friend suggested trying http://www.moneyworld.com
or http://www.moneyworld.co.uk.
He couldn't remember which, so I tried moneyworld.com first. What a
mistake that was!
It was a sex site and I was shocked! So shocked that after
several minutes I left that site. Naturally I had to check it out for Call
Sign readers first, didn't I? Seriously though, what on earth has
moneyworld.com got to do with sex, or am I being naïve here? (I've
been meaning to have a little chat with you, Vince... Ed)
No Sex - Just Money
Moneyworld.co.uk was a different matter altogether, what an
excellent site this is. When you first visit Moneyworld, links to all the
top news items are displayed, this is very typical of most Internet news
sites such as the bbc.co.uk, and the hot news of the day was the Royal
Bank of Scotland's take-over of NatWest. What I really liked about this
site was the well thought out navigation and how quickly I found what I
was looking for.
The main sections of the Moneyworld site consist of, ISA's,
Online Banking, Online Trading, Stock Market, Mortgages, Savings,
Insurance, Loans, Funds, Tax, Currencies, Calculators, Guides and Feedback
- quite a lot as you can see.
I navigated straight to the Stock market section and spent
ages trawling through this excellent resource. If ever there was a web
site that displayed the power of the net, then this is it. Here I could
view details of New Issues, companies that have stated that they're going
to join the Stock Market, the biggest risers, the biggest fallers, the
most |
popular shares, Internet stocks, the NASDAQ or FTSE100. In fact, just
about anything to do with the Stock Market.
There were so many sections of interest on moneyworld.co.uk
that it's just not possible to mention them all here. Also for direct
comparisons between Credit Card companies, Bank Accounts, Mortgage
Lenders, etc this is the site. Well worth a visit and top marks from me.
Am I a Millionaire Yet?
All I've been hearing lately is news about the new Internet
millionaires; these people who jumped on the bandwagon in the last 1 to 2
years and have become extremely rich. I jumped on this bandwagon in 1996,
but am I a millionaire? Fat chance! Am I jealous? Of course not! But can
someone please tell me where I'm going wrong? (You should have bought a
smaller yacht, Vince. I told you twenty million was too much first time
round...Ed)
I've spent ages trying to think of groundbreaking,
millionaire-making web sites but every time I get a bright idea, someone
else has already developed it! Ah, but what about a sex web site? I could
name it www.makesomedosh.com
- yeah right...!
By the way, have you considered registering some domain names
because now is the time to do it. You can register .co.uk domain names for
as little as £5 without any tie-ins. I recently registered http://www.topgeezer.co.uk
but decided to let diamondgeezer.co.uk go, only to find that it had been
registered soon after. Anyway I still registered http://www.cockneycabbie.co.uk
and had a quick search for amusing domain names such as, http://www.erindoors.co.uk
- gone; http://www.scousegit.co.uk
- gone; http://www.northerngit.co.uk
- still available if you're quick; http://www.sweatysock.co.uk
- gone; http://www.softsoutherners.co.uk
- still available and finally, both http://www.handsomegeezer.co.uk
and http://www.andsomegeezer.co.uk
are both still available. Then again they'll probably be registered by the
time you read this.
Have a good one...
