'Twas the night before Christmas, when all
through the house, not a creature was stirring - not even a mouse....
Okay, so we exaggerate! It was a few days before the hols and Brunswick
House was buzzing like mad!
Someone was about to win a luxury, all-expenses paid,
seven-night holiday for two at the wonderful Holiday Inn Family Suites
Hotel in Orlando, Florida!
Whoever had their call sign drawn out of the hat first would win the
wonderful prize which included a return British Airways flight for two,
free car hire plus the opportunity to take an additional four people with
- although they would have to buy their own flights. But the suite
accommodates six comfortably with it's two queen size beds and
double-sized sofa bed. So it is a real family getaway!
The Holiday Inn Family Suites Hotel is situated at Buena
Vista, which is not even a short ten-minute ride away from the wonderful
Magic Kingdom of Disney. It has a fitness centre, three swimming pools,
air conditioning in all rooms, cable TV plus all the usual stuff that you
would expect in a good hotel such as in-room tea/coffee facilities,
microwave, room service etc...
Kids have their own games area together with a playground, |
special pool and mystery fun packs. This is an ideal family holiday
resort - and then, of course, there is Disney as well...!
The only requirement if your call sign came out, was that your cab
sported the Dial-a-Cab corporate logo (not the old ones).
Out came a call sign from the bag. A quick check with the driver,
but alas he didn't have the logos on. To say he was disappointed would be
an understatement, but that's the rules; no logo - no prize!
But it gave someone else a chance. Back to the bag and out came
the call sign C22 - Paul Stevens. No danger here of Paul not having them...
"I've always had them on" an excited Paul told Call Sign's envious
reporter.
Paul and his partner Caroline - "I call her my live-in
lover" have been together for nine years and have two children, Connor who
is
|
two and Rhianne who is five.
And how did Paul feel when he realised what he had won? "Totally
elated" he said. "The news came on Rhianne's birthday. We
actually went to Florida last year with money from my late father and as
you can imagine, the kids loved it and haven't stopped asking when
we could go back again. But not in my wildest dreams did I think it would
be so soon and more importantly, to cost me nothing! I feel sorry for the
guy who didn't have the logos but I'm not giving this holiday away to
anyone!"
And what did Caroline say when he told her? "I phoned
her up straight away and told her that we had won a week in a luxury hotel
in Florida. She refused to believe me and wouldn't until I got home and
stuck to the story! She was absolutely thrilled!"
Paul and Caroline hope to take their prize in September... "Caroline
wants a patio put up first" said Paul with a shrug.
Paul has been a cab driver for twelve years and joined Com Cab soon after
getting his licence. He wasn't too keen on his time there and left after a
few months putting his name down on the Dial-a-Cab waiting list and has
been with us since the end of 1989.
Have a wonderful holiday, Paul and Caroline...
