There are some events that don't need words to convey a message. One such event is the annual Mad Hatters Tea Party organised so successfully by the London Taxi Driver's Fund for Underprivileged Children. Sunday January 16th 2000 at the usual venue of London's magnificent Grosvenor House Hotel, was the setting for this year's bash and as usual Dial-a-Cab was well represented. Present was Chairman Brian Rice, who was talked into presenting personally a sizeable DaC donation that the Society had earlier posted and wished for no ceremony, but the Fund's Chairman David Lessman (D19 on DaC) talked him into getting up on stage. Also there alongside the celebrities was Call Sign, with our ace snapper, Alan Green (E52), who captured the happy atmosphere perfectly. With several of the Fund's committee on DaC, we felt very much at home, but our congratulations go to everyone at the Fund for another excellent job... "There is no tangible product at the end of driving a taxi other than having the ability to pay your bills. Then you look at the joyful, elated kids faces here and you realise just what it is that makes events such as this so worthwhile." ![]() Brian Rice presents David Lessman with a cheque on behalf of Dial-a-Cab. |
